Introducing Athena Wealth Management

I want to share some exciting news! We’ve changed our name to Athena Wealth Management and I’d like to explain why. Don’t worry though, Making Dreams a Reality (MDAR) is still alive and well and so am I!

Here’s what led to our rebrand:

When I first joined Investment Planning Counsel five years ago we agreed to co-brand, and I paid to have my logo trademarked once it was approved by our compliance department. You’re probably familiar with the above logos, and you might have noticed that up until recently they always appear alongside each other on our website and collateral materials. As of a few months ago that’s no longer the case!

Let me be clear, IPC is still our dealership and we continue to work productively, and amicably together to advance the goals and dreams of our clients.

However.

What I found over the years, as I was expanding into Philanthropic Planning, Financial Literacy, and developing my signature keynote The Magic of Sex within the context of my Financial Life Planning Practice, in the broadening of my interests I was diverging from the regulated mandate of my dealership – IPC. So, I made a decision to reclaim my trademarked logo and name, which meant that we had to come up with a new name for the financial planning and investing side of my business.

Our team generated all sorts of great ideas, which reflected our values and the messages we want to convey to our clients, prospective clients, and partners. After much discussion we agreed on Athena Wealth Management.

I am sure many of you are aware that Athena was the Greek Goddess of strength and leadership. She believed in empowering others, developing tools to make life easier and reduce conflict. She was creative, courageous, and strategic. These characteristics and traits are integral to how my team and I approach financial planning and investing, so for us it was a natural fit.

For me, Athena also symbolizes the energy that allows you to know what you want and to go after it, with graceful tenacity.  Sounds like a wonderful symbol for Financial Life Planning – wouldn’t you agree?

On a final note, I’m still joyfully here, working with our clients, building the business while expanding our role to include spreading awareness about the magic of financial life planning, and the benefits of philanthropy.

We have expanded our amazing team which now includes: Diana (who now books all of my meetings and appointments), Jingling (who does an amazing job of getting me prepared for all of my client meetings), Hakeem (who is learning the business with his current focus on the insurance side of the business), Paul (who focuses on the administrative side of the business and our group health plans) and Jack (whose brilliant expertise in the area of communications & social media is helping to get the word out about all the great work we do).

I’m hugely excited for the future of both of my businesses, and the positive impact we will continue to have for our clients, our community, and this wonderful world we live in. Stay tuned for more updates about Athena Wealth Management and Making Dreams a Reality!
